Stollen

Stollen on Intake

When the Holiday Confections arrived, the group name belied the condition these 12 dogs were in. The poor things came in from a mill that usually shoots the dogs when they can no longer breed. Sadly, Stollen came to us with Heartworm. Then when the pre treatment tests were done, we found she also had severe liver issues. We could not treat the heartworm due to the liver problems, and we could not have surgery to fix the liver because of the heartworm. Poor Stollen was too sick for us to be able to give her the long happy life we wanted for her.

It grieves us all to know that this little beauty in heart and soul came to us so very sick. We all here tried our best, and she had many tests while in Emergency . . . Please light your candle for Stollen.

Stollen in care

Stolen, we are so sorry that you were not taken care of before you came to us here. Kim, our hearts are broken for you as well, and we also hold you in our hearts and prayers

Stollen on foster dad

From her foster family: We so enjoyed our time with this little girl. She was very easy going and sweet. I will miss her little nose pressing into my leg to let me know she is there. She is at peace and we are very grateful for all that was done for her and for all those who touched her along the way to our home. She was affectionately known at Stowey and Sto-bo in our home. She loved the sunshine and belly rubs and is hopefully getting lots of both.

Roses
          By Walter Wingate

Roses A sea of broom was on the brae,
A heaven of speedwell lit the way;
But ever as I passed along
Of roses only was my song -
          Roses, roses, roses!

They spread their petals, pink and white
Full stretch to feast upon the light;
They pushed each other on the spray
Like children mad with holiday -
          Roses, roses, roses!

But as when summer noon is high
A fearful cloud bedims the sky,
A sudden memory of pain
Arises from the bright refrain -
           Roses, roses, roses!

I watch a figure to and fro
'Mong summer roses long ago,
Herself a rose as blythe as they -
Alas! how soon they pass away -
          Roses, roses, roses!
